Are you Ready for an Emergency?
<< Classes and Certifications Rescue Diver Course with SeaClypse Dive Adventures expands the basic problem prevention and accident management skills student divers learn beginning with their Open Water Diver course. By its nature, the course is demanding and realistic in its conduct, content and approach. The Rescue Diver course philosophy focuses on the concept that there is rarely only one way to accomplish a task. There is no single "right" way to perform a rescue, but rather there are many variables and resources that rescuers consider and draw upon, depending upon the scenario. This course takes a flexible, conceptual approach to rescue--a rescuer's relative size and strength, for example, as well as environmental factors, may dictate or influence what rescue technique will be most effective.
Course Overview
We recommend this course for all diver's. It will bring your diving skills and confidence to a new level. This course will challenge your ability to recognize and deal with problems in a calm and efficient manner as they present themselves. This course will be challenging both mentally and physically, however, you will find a great sense of accomplishment upon completion.
The Rescue Diver Class is broken into 2 sections:
Knowledge Development Sessions The knowledge development portion develops the principles and information you will need for preventing and handling diving emergencies, with topics such as self-rescue, diver stress, diving first aid, emergency management, equipment problems and rescue and assistance procedures for both conscious and unconscious victims on the surface and underwater.
Learning Materials for the knowledge Development section consists of either a book and DVD, or CD Rom (we include learning materials as part of the course fee). This section can be completed at home as Independent study, allowing you to take in the material at your pace. This is the preferred method, allowing us to spend more time on your dive rescue skills and covering any issues you may have had with the material. Lectures can be set up if this is your preference.
Rescue Training Sessions During the open water phase of the course, you will apply the knowledge you've acquired during your independent study. We will teach you to recognize and deal with Diver Stress and Anxiety and to manage diving emergencies. Ocean training will include a number of skills ranging from tired diver and egress techniques to Response, Egress and Emergency Management scenarios. You will walk away from this class with a greater respect of what it takes to be a safe and prepared diver and buddy.
