The Advanced Open Water Diver class is perfect for the newly certified diver who just has to get wet! Diving is what it's all about! 5 dives over 2-3 days, allowing you to increase your confidence and expand your limitations while under the direct supervision of an Instructor. It's a great excuse to to start growing your gills, and forging a safe, responsible respect for the sea!

Course Overview

This class is a favorite for our Instructors. It's an exciting course that is designed to expose you to several different dive environments that San Diego has to offer. We will challenge your dive skills and expand your limitations with deeper dives into the La Jolla or Scripps Canyons, Night dives and Navigation dives into the kelp beds and rock reefs of La Jolla Cove and Casa Cove. Learn to use Dive Computers, or the basics of underwater photography. Increase your bottom time by choosing either the nitrox or multilevel dive options.

In addition to the skills required for certification, we focus heavily on efficient entry/exits techniques, Navigation (compass and natural techniques), Buddy Techniques and Buoyancy skills on every dive.

You read the theory part in the comfort of your home, hotel, or beach if you prefer, and then we will discuss the particular section before each dive.

We recommend shore dives for this class. We dive several different sites during this class, allowing you to experience the correct entry/exit techniques and locations as well as the navigation and planning/safety details required for diving the best dive sites San Diego has to offer. This Advanced Class will considerably increase your confidence in your abilities to Plan and Execute safe and efficient dives without the guidance of an Instructor, The Advanced Open Water Class is all about the diving Your general diving skills, including entry/exits, buoyancy control and navigation will improve drastically over the course of 5 dives.
