Course Overview
The Open Water Diver Class with SeaClypse Dive Adventures, San Diego is a private, performance-based program designed to present you the information, skills and training required to plan and execute dives to a depth of 60ft, This is your first step to the thrill and beauty of San Diego's underwater world. Because this course is private and performance-based, we progress at a pace that you are comfortable with, allowing you to get the most from the class. This class is perfect for those last minute vacation planners who just have to get certified, or anyone who has finally realized their "do it someday" plan just isn't working. You will learn the skills necessary to become a safe and knowledgeable diver, capable of planning and executing various dives from the shore and boat. These skills will increase your confidence in the water and will help prepare you for recognizing and preventing potential problems and if necessary, manage dive emergencies.
The Open Water Diver Classes are broken into 3 sections:
Knowledge Development Sessions The Open Water Course Knowledge Development Section is where you will Learn the basic foundation of equipment, general skills and safety aspects needed by every diver to dive confident, efficiently and safely with a healthy respect for the ocean and its environment. Basically you are completing the "book work" of the program Topics include basic diving theory, including the direct/indirect effects of pressure, buoyancy, and effects of different gasses under pressure. Equipment, Dive Planning, the Diving Environment and Safety Procedures are also topics covered in this section.
Learning Materials for the knowledge Development section consists of either a book and DVD, or CD Rom (we include learning materials as part of the course fee). This section can be completed as home study, allowing you to take in the material at your pace. This is the preferred method, allowing us to spend more time on your diving skills and covering any issues you may have had with the material. Lectures can be set up if this is your preference.
Confined Water Sessions. you will always remember the first time you breath underwater. Its like nothing you have ever experienced, and is very difficult to explain to someone who hasn't experienced it. In the Confined Water Section you will begin to apply some of your newly acquired knowledge in a controlled, pool environment. You are introduced to basic SCUBA skills required to dive safely around the world. Your instructor will begin your transformation into a fish, by skillfully and patiently guiding you through the required skills! Because you are 1 on 1 with a highly skilled instructor, you will gain considerable confidence in your underwater abilities in a very short time. Upon successful completion of all pool skills, you will be ready for the next, and final step in your initial SCUBA certification.
Open Water Sessions You are off to the Ocean! You will have 4 dives over 2 days, and an additional skin dive. You will perform and practice the skills you learned and became proficient with in the pool. This is your opportunity to apply these skills, and expand your limitations in real diving environments under the guidance of your Instructor. Your confidence in your skills will continue to increase as your Breathing, buoyancy, and efficient movement through the water give you a true feeling of weightlessness and exhilaration.

Prerequisites
- minimum age is 15yrs (10yrs for Jr Open Water)
- Although not required we recommend being comfortable in the water
